The northern coastal areas outside Seattle, Vancouver and Alaska provide rich fishing grounds. The season is hard and intense as the weather may shift from clear blue sky to strong gales in an instant. The northern waters are known for pack ice which may drift southwards on the currents. The Bering Strait is mostly known for its crab, but it is also a rich fishing ground. The border between Russia and the United States runs down the middle of the strait.
