Atlantic and Pacific Cod

The Atlantic Cod (Gadus Morhua)
This cod is the most common and most significant species of fish in Norway and Iceland. The fish spawns in the cold waters outside Lofoten. High season for this sort of fishing is January to April. Coastal cod is in season all year around.

The Pacific Cod (Gadus macrocephalus)
This is a relation of the Atlantic cod, but it is somewhat less in size. The harvesting of pacific cod began to increase when the availability of Atlantic cod decreased, and it has in turn replaced much of the seafood niche created by the Atlantic cod.

Stock fish

The most common stock fish is made from cod, but we offer and deliver excellent stock fish made from other species of fish such as saithe, haddock, tusk and others.

Putting fish out to dry is the oldest form of food preservation we know of and the method is more than a thousand years old. Only water is removed from the fish during the process while all the nutrients remains.

We only sell stock fish from the best known and widely recognized fishing grounds in Lofoten, Troms and Finnmark. We have specialized in selling the types of stock fish that you cannot find on the Italian market and have acquired a significant share of the Norwegian market. All stock fish is labeled and sold under our own brand.

We also sell stock fish heads, made from fish harvested in Norway and Iceland.
